Challenging U.S. foreign policy

Dear Friend,

Most of the time the establishment won’t debate people like you and me. They wouldn’t want to dignify our forbidden opinions by giving them a platform. Well, several years ago one of their number made the mistake of violating that rule.

Bill Kristol, the always-wrong political commentator who never saw a war he didn’t love, inexplicably agreed to debate the great Scott Horton in 2021.

Kristol, who spent decades on all the cable news shows, was the founder and editor of the Weekly Standard before it folded, and he co-founded the neoconservative Project for a New American Century.

In debating Scott, Kristol had no idea he was about to walk into a buzzsaw.

The debate was about “regime change” as a strategy for U.S. foreign policy.

I don’t know what Kristol was expecting, but he had his head handed to him.

It was a massacre.

And it told us something we should have known already: the establishment in America and no doubt in most countries of the world consists of deeply unimpressive people.

They run away from debates with the dissident world not because they’re too dignified to deal with people like us, but because they’ll get steamrolled.

Recently, Scott took Tucker Carlson on a 70-year tour through American Middle Eastern policy. You can tell Tucker was both intrigued and sympathetic, which means our arguments are finally reaching beyond our usual audiences and into a whole new arena.

Scott has debated Gen. Wesley Clark on Piers Morgan Uncensored four times now. Among many other things, Clark served as Supreme Allied Commander of NATO Europe.

Scott has left the general in the dust, time and again.

You may remember in 2008 and 2012 how many people said, “I agree with Ron Paul, except on foreign policy.”

But foreign policy was the best thing about Ron Paul!

And as time has passed, some of those very people have begun to figure that out — in no small part because of the work of Scott Horton.

“Scott Horton is one of the most knowledgeable and articulate critics of the American interventionist foreign policy I have ever encountered.”
Ron Paul, Former U.S. Congressman & Presidential Candidate

By the way,

this is Tom Woods writing, not Scott.

So I’m free to boast about my good friend.

Scott has been at this for nearly 30 years, and he’s conducted over 6,000 interviews, the vast bulk of them on foreign-policy issues.

The sheer volume of knowledge in Scott’s brain is staggering. I may have elite credentials (Harvard A.B. and Columbia Ph.D.), but I have never known as much about anything as Scott knows about war and peace, and U.S. foreign policy in particular.

If you’ve ever heard the Scott Horton Show, or Scott as a guest on the Tom Woods Show (or any number of other shows), or seen him deliver a lecture, you know what I mean. If we had a veritable army of Scott Hortons out there, we could keep the warmongers on the defensive for good.

Wouldn’t it be nice to walk around with that kind of information at the ready, so you could articulate the antiwar position with confidence?

So it gives me great pleasure to introduce…

The Scott Horton Academy of Foreign Policy and Freedom!

This is Scott Horton as you’ve never seen or heard him before: Scott Horton the teacher and professor, walking you step by step through the material, pumping that firehose of knowledge straight into your brain, at a pace and with the level of detail you need to learn it, absorb it, and use it in your own conversations and debates.

Now here’s the thing about Scott. We all love him. We cheer for him.

But:

Doggone it, he just talks so darn fast and packs so much into such a short time, whether he’s on a podcast, a television program, a stage, or whatever it is. He rattles off all this fascinating information effortlessly.

But for normal people it can be hard to keep up. So another name for the Scott Horton Academy of Foreign Policy and Freedom could be Scott Horton Slowed Down. Here is Scott Horton not as a podcast guest, trying to maximize the value of every minute of airtime.

This is Scott Horton as your personal tutor, teaching you in fascinating and easy-to-follow sessions you can enjoy any time of day or night.

Not to mention, Scott has a vast treasure of knowledge in his head, not just those bits and pieces that happen to come out in podcast interviews. And the world really could use that knowledge right about now.

That includes you specifically, dear reader.

And incidentally, after conducting over 6,000 interviews, you discover who the best authorities on all kinds of subjects are. The Scott Horton Rolodex is pretty big, and you can also expect courses at the Scott Horton Academy from some of the top people Scott knows in areas where they, like Scott himself, possess vast knowledge.

Again, this isn’t like school, when you had to be there at 8:00 in the morning. With the Scott Horton Academy app (or right on the website) you can listen or watch anytime, anywhere.

We’ll add new courses every year

in fact, we’ll add two more this year!

For as long as you and I can remember, the War Party has dominated the various opinion-molding outlets: newspapers, magazines, cable TV news. But those are all dying — and if you look at the comments sections of their online versions, you discover how many people aren’t buying it anymore, if they ever did.

Bill Kristol never expected to inhabit this kind of world – a world in which the Right denounces warmongers (even using that very word), the Heritage Foundation mocks him, and YouTube forever hosts his humiliating debate loss to our own Scott Horton.

Kristol expected to continue indefinitely as a respected elder statesman on the Right, invited to address all the major gatherings and attend the wine-and-cheese receptions.

It isn’t working out that way – poetic justice indeed on behalf of all the widows and orphans Kristol is responsible for.

But just when you think they’re down and out, the neocons have a way of slithering back into power.

Beneath their Iran bluster, the neocons are weak. They’re not even making arguments anymore. “Tulsi is wrong,” and that’s it. So now is the time to strike.

The Scott Horton Academy is a 10-megaton bomb to the war propaganda that has insinuated its way into our classrooms and our headlines.

Remember that Scott labored in obscurity for years and years, telling unfashionable truths to anyone who would listen.

But as Emerson said, “If the single man plant himself indomitably on his instincts, and there abide, the huge world will come round to him.”

Over the past few years, the world has finally caught up with Scott Horton. High-profile media outlets have begun to seek him out. His books feature endorsements by people of prominence and distinction. Huge cheers are heard when he enters a hotel ballroom for a keynote address.

This may not be the world Bill Kristol wants, but it sure is the world I want and the world you want, too, dear reader.

In fact, I want a world…

…in which the CIA’s spin on current events loses its hold over so much of the American public, because people who possess the knowledge of Scott Horton have been smashing it to smithereens.

…in which good antiwar people don’t bite their tongues in social situations because they’re unsure if they could really hold their own in a full-blown debate. We’ve all been there. We don’t have to be.

…in which each of us is the most knowledgeable person in our friend group so even if we don’t persuade everyone right away, our circle knows that the smartest guy happens to be the voice for peace.

Now Scott is entrusting that knowledge to you.
